Junior Software Engineer / Working Student (m/f/d)
About us
What started as a Bitcoin heater is becoming the platform for the future of sustainable warmth. 21energy combines energy efficiency, connected technology and smart business models — and is building an exciting product portfolio ranging from stoves and smart central heating to Heating-as-a-Service and scalable container infrastructure. With a team of over 20 in Innsbruck, strategic partnerships with leading energy providers, and the ambition to become Austria’s next unicorn, we are at a turning point. Shape the next chapter with us!
We’re looking for a working student who wants to grow with us. You’ll start with supporting tasks – testing, bug reproduction, smaller fixes, some customer support – and gradually take on more responsibility as you get deeper into our stack. Up for a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis with us? Very welcome, but not a must.
Your tasks
- Testing – manual tests, bug reproduction, writing automated test suites.
- Customer support – triaging tickets, reproducing issues, solving them yourself.
- Small bugfixes & features – you’ll work your way into our TypeScript/Node stack and gradually own your own tickets.
- Internal tools & docs – things that make all our lives easier.
- Growing with us – with every task you handle well, more responsibility comes your way. Where you are in a year is up to you.
Your profile
Must-haves:
- Enrolled student (from 2nd semester Bachelor’s onwards, Master’s also welcome) – computer science, business informatics, mechatronics or similar.
- First programming experience – from uni, side projects, an internship, or open source. Just show us what you’ve built.
- You’re comfortable on the command line or curious enough to get there. You don’t need to know TypeScript/Node – but you should be keen to learn it.
- You want to understand why something works – not just that it works.
- You work carefully, ask when something’s unclear, and reliably get things done.
- At least 6–12 months available before thesis or full-time – the onboarding pays off for both sides.
- German B2 preferred (for the customer support portion).
What we offer
- Real product, real relevance: You’ll learn from day one on a real product — not a sandbox project, but code that runs at customers’ homes. Energy efficiency meets Bitcoin mining. We are global market leaders in Bitcoin heating systems and growing rapidly.
- AI-first: AI-forward, but no vibe coders. We use the tools that make us faster, but we develop properly. Every new team member completes an AI workshop to get started.
- Team culture: Small team, short paths, open ears. We like making mistakes, but only once each. Flat hierarchies, lots of ownership and flexible working hours. Prospect of a full-time position after graduation.
- Top equipment: Height-adjustable desks, up-to-date technology and modern office right at Landhausplatz in Innsbruck.
- Perks: Training budget up to €3,000/year, €180 in annual vouchers, Klimaticket Tirol (from the 2nd year).
- Community: Monthly game nights at the office, regular team events and “Ask Me Anything” sessions with our CEO Maximilian — deep insights into Bitcoin, financial markets and the energy sector.
- Your own Bitcoin miner: Every desk comes with a Bitaxe — an open-source Bitcoin solo miner. Every 10 minutes, a new block is found on the network, and each time you have a shot at the full block reward of currently 3.125 BTC. The odds? Tiny. But real — several Bitaxe miners have already found blocks and won over €200,000 each. Your personal Bitcoin lottery ticket, 24/7 on your desk.
Conditions
- Location: Wilhelm-Greil-Straße 21, 6020 Innsbruck
- Work model: On-site (office-first, occasional home office possible)
- Working hours: Part-time, 10–20h/week (more possible during semester breaks)
- Compensation: The full-time equivalent gross annual salary for this position is € 35,000 – € 42,000 (14 payments), depending on experience and study progress. Payment is prorated based on actual weekly hours.

Assembly & Production Associate (m/f/d)
Full-time • Location: Zirl, Tyrol • Start: from September / from October 2026
About us
What started as a Bitcoin heater is becoming the platform for the future of sustainable warmth. 21energy combines energy efficiency, connected technology and smart business models — and is building an exciting product portfolio that ranges from heaters and smart central heating systems to Heating-as-a-Service and scalable container infrastructure.
With a team of over 20 in Innsbruck, strategic partnerships with leading energy providers, and the ambition to become Austria's next unicorn, we are at a turning point. Shape the next chapter with us!
For our warehouse and production in Zirl, we're looking for two people to build our stoves with their own hands and pitch in around the warehouse. These aren't heavy, bulky units — it's our compact, handy stove series: light, fine sub-assemblies where precision and clean work matter. We're currently rebuilding our warehouse and production processes in Zirl — if you want to, you can actively help shape them and grow, for example towards an assembly lead role.
Your tasks
- Assembling our compact stoves – light, fine sub-assemblies from the individual component to the finished unit (not too heavy, bulky equipment)
- Screwing, hand-bending, mounting and wiring according to instructions and specifications
- Fitting and pre-assembling components
- Supporting the warehouse: goods receipt, put-away and picking, and keeping an eye on stock levels
- Visual and functional inspection of assembled units
- Packing and preparing finished products for shipping
- Keeping your workspace clean and orderly and handling materials and tools with care
Your profile
Must-haves:
- Manual dexterity and enjoyment of precise assembly work
- Careful, reliable and accurate way of working
- Team spirit and willingness to pitch in
- Physical fitness for standing work in the warehouse
- German B2 (for work instructions and team coordination), English B1 a plus
Nice-to-have (but not a must):
- Initial experience in assembly, production, warehouse or a skilled trade
- Basic technical understanding (electrics/mechanics)
- Forklift license
- Interest in developing further or helping build something up – e.g. towards an assembly lead role
What we offer
- A real product with real relevance: You build something people have at home — energy efficiency meets Bitcoin mining. What you assemble goes straight to our customers. We are global market leaders in Bitcoin heating systems and growing rapidly.
- AI focus: Modern, AI-supported ways of working matter to us — in our warehouse and assembly too, for example with digital assembly instructions and inventory management. Every new team member gets an AI workshop at the start; no prior knowledge needed — we'll show you which tools make your work easier.
- Team culture: Small team, short paths, open ears. We're happy to make mistakes, but each one only once. Flat hierarchies and lots of ownership.
- Room to grow: We're currently rebuilding our warehouse and production work in Zirl. If you bring more experience and want to take on responsibility, there are real advancement opportunities — for example towards an assembly lead role.
- Top equipment: A modern, well-equipped warehouse with up-to-date technology and proper tools at our Zirl site.
- Perks: A training budget and the option to take Udemy courses every week, € 180 in annual vouchers, Klimaticket Tirol (from the 2nd year).
- Community: Monthly game nights at the office, regular team events and "Ask Me Anything" sessions with our CEO Maximilian — deep insights into Bitcoin, financial markets and the energy sector.
- Your own Bitcoin miner: Every desk comes with a Bitaxe — an open-source Bitcoin solo miner.
